VFW POST 414 commemorates Memorial Day

Posted

Fog can occlude many things but it could not dim the memory, or the compassion of our community whose members turned out to commemorate the fallen on Memorial Day this year.

‘Some of my guys have injuries from Vietnam.  They can hardly walk to the cemetery,” said VFW Post 414 Commander Robert Galbraith.

Yet despite their physical challenges, and the heavily overcast weather, these men and women helped lead the parade of fire fighters, local organizations and the high school marching band through town and up to Mount Pleasant Cemetery for the annual Memorial Day service on Monday, May 27.

Sacrifice. Honor. Devotion to duty and a cause greater than themselves distinguish America’s veterans and their families.  On this day those who served joined those who turned out to remember loved ones who gave their lives in service to our country.
