Patchogue-Medford High School journalism students and Raider TV members proudly represented the Patchogue-Medford School District at the annual Broadcasting Awards for Senior High (BASH). Nearly 1,000 students from over 40 school districts gathered at the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University for the prestigious event. Patchogue-Medford was honored for its co-anchor team, and students Ceania Gonzales and Martina Costiliola served as presenters of a breakout session.

“The Patchogue-Medford School District is proud to provide courses and extracurriculars that allow our students to develop their passions for broadcasting and video production,” said Patchogue-Medford School District superintendent Dr. Donna Jones. “At BASH, our students demonstrated their impressive skills and their ability to cultivate the capabilities of their peers across Long Island and Westchester.”

Patchogue-Medford High School senior Ceania Gonzales and freshman Martina Costiliola led the breakout session—titled “10 Key Editing Tips for Broadcasts”—alongside representatives from Manhasset School District and Port Washington School District, amplifying the conference’s educational message. In addition, seniors Jeraly Tejada and Dahryl Louis were awarded third place in the category of Best Co-Anchor Team as a result of their exceptional work at Raider TV.

BASH is an annual awards ceremony and conference that celebrates student broadcast journalism and video production. Students and educators from Long Island and Westchester gather each year, since the event’s founding by Southold School District in 2017, to recognize achievements in the field, augment students’ knowledge and skills, and bolster educational opportunities.
