Suzanne McKenna Link’s newest novel “#GIRLFIGHT” takes place on the South Shore of Long Island. Jayden Jones, her small town’s first female wrestler, finds her once strong career aspirations uprooted. The story opens with Jayden keeping her promise to her deceased father by staying in New York to pursue a law degree, while her boyfriend is becoming a celebrity on a Las Vegas-based mixed martial arts reality show. Distracted by her loneliness and envy that he’s able to continue fighting competitively, Jayden flies to Vegas to try out for the same MMA show.

But when she arrives, she finds her boyfriend wrestling with the show’s most popular female fighter—naked. A fight between the three of them gets Jayden banned from the show.

She heads back to her Long Island hometown, followed by a viral media storm that turns her world upside down and offers her the opportunity to confront her ex’s new partner in the octagon. She seeks help training for the fight from former wrestling teammate, Cooper McCaffrey — her first love and her first heartbreak. Being home stirs up unresolved conflicts with her estranged mother and sister, but with her eye on the ring, Jayden learns how to slow down, to listen and understand those around her, and learn how to love and be loved, finding a deeper courage, other than the kind she needs to step into the octagon.

“#GIRLFIGHT” is a realistic rite-of-passage story, centered on personal growth, but with a central love story sure to satisfy romance readers. Reviewers say [#GirlFight is] “… action packed, super slow burn, and emotionally inspiring!” and “…a solid read that gives you more than you’ll go in expecting.”
