South Shore charm on display at Alive by the Bay

Whether you attended Alive by the Bay for the food, live music, or family activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy at the annual street fair series in downtown Bay Shore.

Held on Main Street, the series featured local restaurants, vendors, live music, arts and crafts, craft beer, and fun activities for the whole family. Main Street was closed and the parking meters were suspended during the festivals held from 5 to 9 p.m. on June 25, July 9, Aug. 13, and Aug. 20. The scheduled July 23 festival was canceled due to weather.

During the Aug. 13 Alive by The Bay Street festival, the four live music stages spaced throughout Main Street were graced by Jimmy and the Parrots, Funkin A, No Request Band, and Buoy 34.

For $20, kids enjoyed a fun zone from WeekendBounce, which included multiple unique bouncy houses, slides, and games for kids of all ages.

The Alive by the Bay festival is hosted annually by the Bay Shore Restaurant Committee. During the block party-style festivals, attendees often stop by their favorite restaurants and discover new ones.

With such a variety of local restaurants and food vendors, attendees are encouraged to come hungry. Local favorite restaurants Changing Times, Tap Room, Goody Two Shoes, and Coastal Kitchen were particularly filled to the brim with customers enjoying drinks and a meal during the festival. Food vendors were also all the rage, including The Pudding Lady NY, the Groovy Smoothie, a classic funnel cake and fried Oreo stand, and smash burgers from Roto Grocery.

As the Tuesday summer festivals come to an end, attendees certainly will not forget all the fun that downtown Bay Shore has to offer.
