Pat-Med football preps for Friday’s season opener

Patchogue-Medford scrimmaged at Huntington on Sept. 6  in the Raiders’ final tune-up before they open the season Friday at Connetquot.

The Raiders looked sharp as receivers Thomas Kelly and Jackson Wustenhoff caught several long passes from quarterbacks Brett Rupolo and Brody Sorensen.

The running game looked strong as well, with Raiders running backs Aidyn Modeste and A.J. Almelia breaking off several runs. Almelia came in for Modeste after Modeste bruised his leg.

“Some good things, but also some things to clean up,” was Raiders head coach Tom Piccirillo’s assessment of the scrimmage.
“We did a nice job on the perimeter,” Piccirillo said. “Our screen game looked good. We have some dynamic backs and they showcased what they can do—that they can drop their pads and be physical, also.”

“We’re coming together as a team, which is the important thing,” Piccirillo said.
