This year we asked readers to send in nominations for a mom in their life who gave wise advice for enduring beauty. Here are the winners:
Grandma Micheline, nominated by granddaughter, Jennie Rostkowski
“This Mother’s Day, I’m writing to honor my grandma Micheline, or Sidabay, as everyone knew her. It’s our first Mother’s Day without her, but her first one with her mom in 75 years. She moved from Middle Village to Oakdale to follow her family. A fond memory is her saying to keep a tube of lipstick handy because you’d never know when someone would ask you to dance.”
Justina Kelly (grandmother), Carmela Lentz (mother) nominated by DawnMarie Kuhn (daughter), Bohemia
“Best piece of advice for lasting beauty is spending time with friends and family. Laughter is the key!
Joelle Hawkes, nominated by son, Conner Hawkes, 12 (Blue Point)
“Have an attitude of gratitude—for lasting beauty both inside and out.”
Teal Rizzo, nominated by daughter, Julian Rizzo (Sayville)
“Be true to yourself and live life by the passions in your soul.”
