Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library gets into the Halloween spirit

Posted

The Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library is helping to get the community into the Halloween spirit. On Friday, Oct. 23, the library’s Main Building in Shirley becomes a Haunted Library.

Patrons will be led in small groups on guided tours through hidden corners and shadowy spaces throughout the library, where a few surprises will be waiting beyond the shelves. Tours will be offered at 6:30, 7, 7:30, and 8 p.m.

The Haunted Library is open to all ages, although children must be accompanied by an adult, and some scenes may not be appropriate for younger children. Registration is required and participants may register for one session only.

“Libraries are places where people can learn, explore, connect, and sometimes just have a little fun,” said Library Board president Joseph A. Maiorana. “This program brings families together in a special way while giving the community another reason to make the library part of its Halloween traditions.”
