Long Island women artists at Gallery 90

A new season at Gallery 90 began on May 23 with a survey of Long Island artists Susan Buroker, Kathleen Celestin, Liz Duerschmidt, Joyce J. Jackson, Alice Van der Wetering, Mary Jane van Zeijts, Pamela Waldroup and Marion Wipf.

On view from May 23 through June 21, the show includes work across many media, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, puppetry, photography and jewelry design.

Each artist brings to her work a deep connection to the local environment, its culture and communities, expressed through elements of storytelling, memory, composition and design.

There will be an opportunity to hear more from the artists about their inspiration and approach to their work at an artists’ talk on June 7 from 2 to  4 p.m.

An opening reception was held at the gallery on May 24.

Part of the Ketcham Inn Foundation, the gallery is located at 90 Montauk Highway in Center Moriches.  Gallery hours are Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.,  May through October. For more information, call (631) 878-1855
