Eastport-South Manor boys varsity basketball holds a 3-6 league record and a 6-7 overall record in their winter season. The 2025-26 ESM Sharks started off their season thrashing Hampton Bays, 74-25, on Dec. 12.
They followed the domination with two League IV wins: by edging the West Islip Lions, 41-35, and outlasting Comsewogue, 57-53. In the six-point win over West Islip, Brady McGowan scored 12 points with nine rebounds and three assists. Logan Walsh scored 11, including three 3-pointers and notched three rebounds.
In the four-point win over Comsewogue, McGowan scored 20 with seven field goals, one three-point basket, and three free throws. Jason Shaffner scored 16 points (eight field goals), Walsh scored 11, and William Thomas tallied seven points with nine assists.
The Sharks fell to the Hauppauge Eagles, 47-45, then annihilated the Central Islip Musketeers, 68-26, on Dec. 18, followed by another domination in a victory over Centereach, 69-43. Eastport-South Manor lost three straight League IV matchups to East Hampton, Harborfields, and Islip. The Sharks countered the losses by beating West Islip, 39-34, on Friday, Jan. 16.
Thomas scored 12 with two assists, three field goals, and six free throws. McGowan had nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Logan Walsh put up seven points and Jeff Smith netted six. In late January, the Sharks faced Comsewogue, Hauppauge, Westhampton, and East Hampton. ESM will conclude the regular season in early February at Harborfields, home vs. Half Hollow Hills West, and away at the Islip Buccaneers.
