The Eastport-South Manor Central School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristy Faulkner as the district’s new K-12 director of social studies.
Dr. Faulkner brings nearly 20 years of experience in education to her new role at Eastport-South Manor. Most recently, she served as the social studies department chairperson in the Roslyn School District, where she coordinated the “Names, Not Numbers” project, prepared and led monthly department meetings, assisted with annual budget preparation, supervised grade reporting and streamlined districtwide test administration. She also conducted classroom observations, planned assemblies and supported teacher development.
Prior to joining Roslyn, Dr. Faulkner spent 16 years in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District as a social studies teacher. Dr. Faulkner established and supported positive learning environments, exceeded course and student performance goals and led curriculum writing projects.
Dr. Faulkner holds an Ed. D. in transformational leadership from Long Island University, a Post-Master’s Certificate in educational leadership from St. Joseph’s University, a Master of Arts in history from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education and history from St. Joseph’s University. She holds New York State professional certifications in social studies, school building leadership and school district leadership.
As director of social studies, Dr. Faulkner will oversee the district’s K-12 social studies program and support curriculum, instruction and student learning across grade levels. She also has experience developing curriculum connected to the NYSED Seal of Civic Readiness.
