Fall to Chester Academy, 5-2, in the New York State semifinal

The Center Moriches Devils had an exceptional 2026 season, winning the Long Island Championship for the first time since 2022. Center Moriches went 18-2 in Suffolk County Section XI League VII, and 19-3 overall this spring.

The season commenced with three league victories over Southampton in late March: 12-7, 12-0, and 11-0. The Red Devils annihilated the Bayport-Blue Point Phantoms, 22-7, on April 7, fell to BBP 6-4 on April 9, then beat BBP 10-1 on April 10.

Three dominating wins ensued in mid-April over Elwood-John Glenn: 12-0, 15-1, and 19-1, followed by three more over the Babylon Panthers. To close out the regular season, the Red Devils won five contests: two over Shoreham-Wading River and three outlasting the Mattituck Tuckers.

Center Moriches beat Babylon in the Suffolk County semifinal 5-0, then beat Babylon 3-1on May 27, to earn their first county championship in four years.

Alex Foster earned the win in the county title game pitching five innings, yielding two hits and summating six strikeouts. Jack Cressy hit a long and lofty home run and Center Moriches advanced to face Oyster Bay in the Class B Long Island Championship Game.

In the LIC on June 6, Dan Gilroy pitched the Red Devils to victory, getting the win as he pitched a shutout, yielded two hits, and struck out 11 batters.

Center Moriches fell to Chester Academy, 5-2, in the New York State semifinal, but the Red Devils, led by head coach Paul Gibson, had a compelling season, winning the 2026 Class B Long Island championship.
