Celebrating 100 years of the Greater Patchogue Chamber with a movie

Posted

The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce spent 2023 and all of 2024 celebrating the 100th anniversary. As part, thanks to contributions from the Patchogue-Medford Library, Greater Patchogue Historical Society and the Long Island Advance, the chamber has created a show highlighting how it was created. Benny Migs filmed it and created a short movie that Plaza MAC Cinema has agreed to show on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. and Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Titled “Patchogue: A Moment in Time,” tickets are only $10 a person, so don’t miss your opportunity to step back in time and get a peek at Patchogue 100 years ago!

“PATCHOGUE:
A MOMENT IN TIME”

It’s February 1924, and the business leaders of Patchogue, a growing village on Long Island’s South Shore, are gathering to consider how can they succeed.

How will they solidify future growth and prosperity? Will city interests play a role? Does the mayor support their collaboration? Will women be allowed a seat at the table? Can they provide enough parking for these new-fangled automobiles? Will an infamous, nefarious figure in the shadows destroy it all?... the future of downtown Patchogue hangs in the balance!
