MBGC: Holiday party coming up

Several members attended a leadership conference at the Bethpage Restoration Welcome Center last month. It was a good opportunity to meet gardeners from all over Long Island and to get ideas for future programs. Our club won awards for participating in the Penny Pines Program, World Gardening program and for our last standard flower show.

A holiday party later this month at Trumpets wraps up the Garden Club's 2019 program. Our last project was collecting a trunk-load of toys and gifts and donating them to the toy drive at the Moriches Community Center.  

Longtime member Linda Brown is moving to Florida. Linda is a master gardener, was a past president of our club and this year was our field trip coordinator. Linda has already taken the master gardener course in Florida and will no doubt get involved with a garden club in her new locale.  We wish her and her family good luck.

The MBGC is sponsoring a member of BSA Troop 414, Steven Rosche, who is working toward his Eagle Scout project. Steven's project is installing a Blue Star Memorial in the Bank Street Park in downtown Center Moriches. So if you see him advertising any fundraisers, take a minute to help him out.
