KEITH'S CORNER

Keith's Corner: Back to school

Posted

September means it's a new school year, and another year for Helping Makes U Happy to keep inspiring students!

Pictured above with founder Keith Caputo is ESM student Zachary Froberg, who did a service project in his community by distributing Pennies for People donation bags. His neighbors donated change, which he then collected and brought in as a donation of $160 to HMUH. Never doubt that your pennies make a difference! We especially love this because in May of 2017, Zachary's older brother Douglas surprised us with a "Pennies for People" project he did, and which funded 28 backpacks for students in need.

To keep inspiring students year after year is something we are so proud of! During this month, with the help of the kind folks at the Center Moriches Library, we will be collecting donations of and sorting Halloween costumes for our annual free Halloween Costume Giveaway.

The giveaway will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at HMUH, 1 Neville Street, Center Moriches, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Costumes and accessories are free to all, so come on down!

We are also working furiously on our annual HMUH biggest, happiest Chinese auction around, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the CMHS gym. Doors open at 4 p.m. this year; watch for more info on flyers, Facebook, and our website www.helpingmakesuhappy.org. We are still gratefully accepting sponsors and prize donations. Remember, what we raise goes back to helping your neighbors in need!

Have a great school year, all!
